Dawn tells us about her visit to the Young People’s Group.

In May I went to the My Life My Choice Young People’s Group, to meet a person who I am going to be working with for Travel Buddy.

The Young People’s group is a self-advocacy group for young people, they meet up and talk about things that are important to them.

On the day I went they were talking about football. One of the members did a presentation about their favourite football team, and the other group members asked questions.

The group have pizza at the start of every meeting. I ate some of the pizza and it was really tasty!

The group is run by Paula and I think she does a very good job. She is friendly and outgoing.

I think it’s really good that the group members take it in turns to help Paula run the meeting. They change to a different co-facilitator every 3 months. I think it’s good that they all have the opportunity to earn money and learn new thing. It was Claire’s turn when I was there.

I think they are a friendly group and all young people should go. They made me feel welcome and I really enjoyed myself.
